| | Statement:
Procedure to scan to a shared folder using a Network connection on the B4545 MFP.
Important Notes:
**The folder on the computer that you're scanning to must be shared, and permissions for the folder must allow network users to modify the files.**
**If you are in a domain environment, the B4545 needs to have a valid user account on the server in order to scan to a shared folder. If the B4545 fails to scan to a share, and prints out a failure report indicating an “authentication" error, that would indicate that there is something wrong with the B4545's domain account, or that it does not have one.**

This document assumes that the B4545 is properly installed on a network. That it's network settings ( TCP/IP settings) are valid, and the Oki is
accessable form the computer you wish to scan documents to.
Also, for the computer you are scanning to, you need to know:
1) The IP address of the computer.
2) The user name of the person currently logged on to the computer.
3) The password for the person currently logged on to the computer.
4) The name of the shared folder.
It is possible to configure the B4545 from the operator panel, but it is usually easier to web into the unit and input the information that way. This is the method we will use here.
Once you web into the B4545, click on the DIRECTORY tab. Then click on the ADD button, and see a screen like that fig. 1 below...

fig 1
The directory could accurately be referred to as the phone book. Any phone number, email address, FTP site, or shared address already in the directory
( phone book) will show up on this screen. You can modify or delete any current entry, or you can add new ones. In this example, we'll add a shared
address entry called "scan to share" . Once you enter the name for this entry, click on the shared addr button, and enter the four pieces of information.
1) The Address is the ip address of the computer you're scanning to.
2) The Identifier is the user name of the user currently logged onto the computer.
3) The password is the password of the user currently logged on to the computer.
4) The directory is the shared folder on the target computer.
Once the information has been entered, the screen should look something like fig. 2 below.

fig 2
Once all this information is entered, click on the "Confirm your modifications" button to upload the new entry to the Oki. And the web page will reflect the new entry as well. See fig 3. below

fig 3
At this point, you should be able to scan a document from the B4545 to the computer.
To do this,
1) load the document in the adf unit.
2) On the front panel, press the directory button. The directory button looks like an open book and is just to the left of the red stop button. This will open the "phone book". Press the up arrow or down arrow untill "scan to share" is displayed, and press the green start button. The document should be sent to the computer, and B4545 should print out a report indicating the transmission was successful. | |
